You might have heard about organic cotton, vegan shoes and other sustainable products. But did you know that using second hand clothes is the most sustainable way of dressing?
You use something that already exists. That’s good for you, the people and the planet as you save a lot of CO2, water and energy. Did you know that just a single pair of jeans requires 10.000 litres of water? When buying vintage jeans you help us save our environment. Easy as that.
Here are three reasons for choosing second hand clothes:
The textile industry is the second biggest polluter of our times. And there is more: textile waste increased 810% the last 50 years. We want to fight this waste by using existing clothes. That saves water and energy.
Second hand clothes were probably already washed several times. So most of the toxics are already gone which is why vintage clothing is so much better for your skin. Second hand is also the perfect choice for allergic people and babies.
No cheap fast fashion! Many pieces from the past are more durable due to the careful production process and high quality materials.
