Washing and caring for silk
Silk is very delicate. To avoid holes or shrinking you should be extra careful.
Washing silk
There are so many different kinds of silk and all need special treatment. In order to do it right you should always read the care label of your garment. There are silk pieces that shouldn’t be washed at all — in this case the dry-cleaner will do the job. In most cases hand-washing is quite a good alternative. Use mild detergent only.
For some silk pieces washing at a gentle and cold cycle (such as wool wash cycle) works as well.
Drying silk
Don’t tumble dry silk pieces but air-dry them. Avoid stretching the material too much.
Ironing silk
There are silk pieces that can even be ironed. Please do it as cold as possible and always read the care label carefully.
